P006 New York Film and Music Foundation Magazine

Association: Print Media
Year: 2023
Supervisor: Dale Park

New York Film & Music Foundation is a nonprofit accelerator that provides audio editing and production facilities and services at a professional level for emerging musicians, audio engineers, and filmmakers. Commissioned by founder Dale Park, the goal was to create a booklet that effectively introduces NYFMF’s objectives and showcases the talented artists they support to a broader audience.

I brought together visual assets, including images and text, in Photoshop to align with the aesthetic of the foundation. The layout and spreads were designed using InDesign. I chose lime green as an accent color paired with black for the main text to ensure a clean, modern look while maintaining consistency with the brand’s offical website. These colors, along with the choice of a sans-serif font, were selected for readability and to reflect the contemporary nature of NYFMF’s mission.

Color blocking techniques were utilized to create visual separation between different sections or content types (e.g., features about the foundation, artist profiles, services). This helped improve the organization and flow of information, guiding the reader’s attention from one section to the next.

Design, editing, layout, type adjustments, and design was done by myself.

Key Takeaways: If given the opportunity to revisit this project, I would consider incorporating infographics or custom icons to better represent the different features NYFMF provides. For example, using icons for audio editing, production facilities, or the types of artists could help communicate key information in a more digestible and engaging way.
